Acupuncture For Back, Neck Pain & ACC Injury

The necessity of alternative treatments for pain management is becoming more important as we seek non-invasive, safe, and effective ways to decrease acute and chronic pain levels.

Acupuncture works to combat pain by increasing circulation and blood flow to the afflicted areas, which, in turn, accelerates and promotes healing. For sciatica, overall back pain, neck stiffness & migraines, acupuncture has been proven to biochemically alter pain pathways in the brain by releasing neurotransmitters in the same way as western pain medication.

Treatment & Pain Management

The #1 reason why people get acupuncture is for LOW BACK PAIN.

A study published in the Clinical Journal of Pain emphasises acupuncture’s role as a safe and effective procedure for low-back pain. Additionally, it can maintain positive outcomes for periods of six months or longer without producing the negative side effects that often accompany more traditional pain remedies.

Numerous trials and studies prove that acupuncture can successfully help manage both acute and chronic pain.

  • A 2009 systematic review found that adding acupuncture to basic care for migraines helped to reduce migraine frequency.

  • A 2008 systematic review of studies on acupuncture for low-back pain found strong evidence that combining acupuncture with other western care practices significantly improves results.

  • A German study with more than 14,000 participants evaluated adding acupuncture to usual care for neck pain. The researchers found that participants reported greater pain relief than those who did not receive it.

How Can Chinese Medicine Support Pain Management?

There are 2 phases when treating pain:

Making the pain go away and then keeping the pain from returning.

At your initial visit, we assess how many treatments it will take to decrease the pain levels (on average, this is usually between 4-6).

Frequency and consistency of treatments are essential, particularly in the acute phase. Once the pain levels decrease, we estimate a couple of treatments to stabilise the treatment plan and to keep the pain from returning.

I am ACC registered. As of December 2021, all ACC claims will permit 12 acupuncture visits within a 12 week period from the start of treatment.

Your Pain Relief Solution

There is evidence that acupuncture influences the production of and the distribution of a great many neurotransmitters and neuromodulators, and that this in turn alters the perception of pain.
