Stress, although inevitable can lead to a wide range of health issues including worsened allergies, immune problems, mood swings, insomnia, anxiety, depression, etc. when left untreated for a prolonged period of time.

Many pieces of research now validate the benefits of acupuncture treatments for stress relief. By lowering cortisol levels (stress hormone) and stimulating the production of our body’s natural feel-good hormones like serotonin.

Stress Relief, Anxiety & Depression

Stress is pervasive and affects us all in different ways - it is our most ancient form of self-defence mechanism.

However, Stress is about management.

The key is to learn how to manage and control your stress response and then to seek out and promote a lifestyle that keeps stress levels in check.

The Mayo Clinic states "stress symptoms can affect your body, your thoughts and feelings, and your behaviour. Being able to recognise common stress symptoms can help you manage them.

Stress that's left unchecked can contribute to many health problems, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and diabetes"

Acupuncture works to ease stress by releasing endorphins, which are natural pain-killing chemicals in the brain. When the needles are in and we are resting, these endorphins create a general feeling of ease and well-being.

This response is critical to counteract the damage done by elevated stress levels and should help provide relief in the following days.

How Can Acupuncture Help With Anxiety, Depression & Stress?

Chronic stress can cause havoc on the body, creating symptoms like:

  • Upset stomach, diarrhoea, nausea, constipation, heartburn

  • Rapid heart rate or chest pain

  • Trouble sleeping

  • Loss of sexual desire or reduced sexual function

  • More colds than usual or seasonal illnesses

  • Clenched jaw or teeth grinding

  • Sore, tense muscles, especially in the neck and shoulders

  • Constant worry

  • Racing thoughts or brain fog

  • Disorganisation and forgetfulness

The above symptoms frequently lead to anxiety and depression when left untreated for an extensive period of time.

However, many of these symptoms can be healed when we better manage stress levels with the help of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Acupuncture. Several studies confirm what acupuncture patients have observed - the treatment itself is relaxing, with a sense of calm and control, afterwards.
